Privacy Policy

Last updated: 6 September 2026

ChipSensei (“the app”) and the website chipsensei.app are published by Payments in the channel LTD, 14 - 18 Heddon Street, London, W1B 4DA, England (“we”, “us”). The app is designed to need as little of your data as possible. This policy explains what the app does and does not collect, how it is used, and the choices you have. By using the app you agree to this policy.

No account

The app has no sign-up and no login. To protect our servers from abuse, the app creates an anonymous identifier through Firebase Authentication (Anonymous). It is a random token, not linked to your name, email or phone number, and it is used only to apply a fair daily limit on AI requests.

What you type in the form

When you ask for a recommendation, the answers you enter (your goal, budget, monitor, preferences, the parts you currently own, a laptop screen size and any notes) are sent to our server and forwarded to Google’s Gemini API to generate the recommendation. Please do not enter personal information in the free-text fields — it is not needed. We do not store the content of your requests or the AI responses on our servers beyond the time needed to process the request; our server logs record only the request type, timing and status.

Stored only on your device

Saved builds, your onboarding state and the last known daily-limit counter are stored locally on your iPhone. They are not uploaded. Deleting the app deletes them. You can also delete all saved builds from Settings.

Analytics and crash reports

We use Firebase Analytics, Firebase Crashlytics and Firebase Remote Config (Google LLC) to understand how the app is used in aggregate, to fix crashes and to adjust a few settings remotely. These services receive device and usage information such as device model, OS version, app version, coarse country, and events like “recommendation requested” or “Amazon link opened” (with the component type only). They do not receive the content of your requests. See Google’s privacy policy.

App Tracking Transparency

The app asks for permission to track under Apple’s App Tracking Transparency framework. If you allow it, we may use this permission in the future to measure which advertisements bring people to the app. Declining never changes the recommendations you receive. You can change your choice any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.

Amazon links

Tapping “Find on Amazon” opens an Amazon search page in your browser with our Amazon Associates tag. Amazon may set cookies and collect data under its own privacy policy. We do not receive information about what you view or buy — only aggregated commission reports. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.

Children

The app is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes

We may update this policy; the date above will change and material changes will be noted in the app’s release notes.
